Hey there, friends!
Thanksgiving is upon us, and with it comes the quest to set the most inviting and picturesque table for our friends and family. But before you rush to the box stores to load up your carts, have you considered looking in your own backyard?
Nature provides almost everything you need to decorate for fall. It's also so much fun to get outdoors and forage! Grab a basket to hold all your treasures and maybe a pair of garden clippers and go for a nature walk.
Some of my favorites to collect are dried leaves, acorns, pine cones, seed pods, and dried branches and berries.
Ideas for your Natural Thanksgiving Tablescape:
1. Table Runner of Leaves: Create a centerpiece of cascading dried leaves down the middle of your table. Not only are they free, but they also add a burst of fall colors!
2. Acorn Place Cards: Clean and dry some acorns. Using a thin marker, write each guest's name on the broad side of the acorn. Place them at each setting as a personalized touch.
3. Pine Cone Centerpiece: Gather various sizes of pine cones. Sprinkle them around your table randomly for a casual, rustic vibe.
4. Twiggy Decor: Dried twigs can add height and texture. Bundle them up, tie with twine, and place them in tall vases or pitchers. You can even drape them with dried berries for a pop of color. My all time favorite is bittersweet!
5. Candles: We can't forget about setting the mood. In my opinion you can never have too many candles. Although I almost always recommend burning my scents from A Backwoods Farm soy candle line I would make an exception for Thanksgiving Day and use unscented candles. There are already too many scents coming from the kitchen and you don't want to overwhelm your guests. Place candles up and down the table at different heights to add interest. You can also add tea lights to the center of dried seed pods for another natural touch.
6. Add pieces of handmade pottery from A Backwoods Farm to your Thanksgiving table. This pottery pairs perfectly with natural decor and like items found in nature no two pieces are exactly the same. I think the white matte dinner collection would be especially beautiful for Thanksgiving along with the black matte line with the pressed leaf impressions.
7. Layering is Key: Remember, nature isn't perfect. Don't stress about symmetry. Instead, layer leaves, pine cones, and acorns in a staggered fashion for a more authentic look.
Remember the table is a reflection of your style and the warmth you wish to offer your guests. Make it fun!
There you have it! A table that not only looks beautiful but is also environmentally friendly. The best part is, once Thanksgiving is over, you can toss these items back into nature rather than storing them until next year.
Warm wishes,
Gina
